Over the years of living in Singapore I have seen and heard of how the amount of women coming in to Singapore to work as prostitutes. Some come willingly while others don’t know just what their jobs will be and are forced into the world’s oldest trade.
Singapore is know to have prostitution in government approved areas as long as the girl are working out of a house and not working on the street. The best and most widely used area is the Geylang area which runs for 8 streets in the main area and another 10 street where you will find house spread out of the area. On the street you could girls during the day time hours but mostly in evening the numbers would jump vastly. But it was pretty much contained by the police and immigrations that would make sweeps thought the area from time to time.
How things grew:
Visit pass were given for longer time and cheap air fares from budget airlines made coming to Singapore much easier. Chinese could enter the country much easier to work make it easier for traffickers to lure girls to Singapore with the promise of a job in country.
Of the hundreds of massage parlours most with Thai and Chinese girls in the county over 80% were offering sexual services at an additional cost so the government had to take action to stop or at least lower the numbers so a rule was made that all room could not have a door that could be locked on them, raids caught illegal working and shops where closed.
Pubs:
In areas where girls were suspected to work were raided this cause a drop in customers causing the pubs to closes down due to lack of income. But it didn’t really stop the girls just made more girls work the same pubs vice being spread out over many pubs. In the Joo Chiat where many Vietnamese girls can be found a rule was made those hotels on the street could no longer offer hourly rates on their room which took affect 1 Jan 2009.
KTV lounges / pubs:
Depending on if it is a lounge or pub will make a difference what kind of girls you find there. First the lounges: bigger places with lots of girls to pick from. These are best to go with your friends so you can split the cost of the room which will include 3 or 4 jugs of beers in the price. The manager will bring by the girls and you pick who you want to stay or wait for the next batch they bring by. The girls can be from Singapore, Thailand, china, Vietnam and Malaysia mostly. Most are really lookers too. Some are students and are around 21 years old and up. Normal tip price runs from $20 and up depending on how good she is while with you. To make some extra cash some of the girls will offer extra service and it usually happens at a nearby hotel but can happen in the rooms too depending on what you are looking for.
The pubs are on a smaller scale and more like pick up places to find girls at. You’ll know if it is by the number of girls rooming around the pub trying to talk with you. Most of these girls in either the lounges are pubs are all freelancers and come willingly to work in the bars.
Ok so that covers the best know places where sex can be gotten. Now for the rest of the story:
The numbers of internet sites that have open up since 2007 has really jumped a lot. I have only touch the surface of the number of sites that are offering girls mostly from Thailand for incall escorts. These sites provide you with pictures and services offer be her. They give you a phone number to call and time is 90 minutes and runs between S$130 and S$160. The girls are between 19 and 25 on average. There is no cost to join these sites and you can find them on Yahoo groups also. When these come into town there are in Singapore between 30 and 60 day normally a few may be longer.
Other sites you can find have guys telling of girls they have meet either in bars, work or on the street that are working freelance or under an agent. These girls can be local Singaporean students or wives and cover all races in the country. Prices can get and slow low $50 for and hour to S$160 for an 18 year old student. You don’t find many pictures on these sites so you can only go by what the person wrote and their opinion on her looks and skills.
You don’t find many Indian or Chinese-Singapore girls on these site but the number of Malay girls is on the rise. Most are young 18 or 19 and before their holidays seasons you can see even more offering services to get money to items they need to get. On the ads they will start who they will service so they don’t end up meeting a friend or family member and be in busted for her activities.
Personal ads:
Now we get in to a higher price range, these are women looking for more money and are for the most part Chinese-Singaporean looking to make some money to pay off bills or working as part time escorts. Prices can get as high as S$700 (that is per hour) from what I found so far and that for an 18 year old student. On these ads you will also find he-shes which are clearly stated on the ads so if you don’t want just pass it up.
Blog site:
I have heard of blogs site where the girls offer their services but I have yet to find one but this is yet another way the younger Singaporeans use the internet to attract new customers to them.
Escort site:
Registered escort company may have website but that is nothing new as these are your everyday companies so extra services may not be available from the girls. There are sites where freelances can post ads when they are in country. Full details of services and contact numbers or e-mail address, pictures and descriptions are provided on the ads by women, men and he-shes. These site have a range of nationalities to pick from and the girls can range from mild to wild to mind blowing.
What is being done to prevent it?
With the number of sites out there is little the government can do to stop it. There have been sites shut down due to the content of the site since Singapore does not allow any nude pictures on the servers in country if a site is discovered it is shut down right away.
