The change on Orchard Road, 11 July 2009

Over the past 6 month I would say the amount of working girls found on Orchard Road has greatly increased. While the area around Orchard Towers at night has always had girls hanging around they pretty much stayed in the immediate area not to venture to far away as if it was some unwritten rule for them. Sometime you could see girls walking between Orchard Towers and Brix over on Scotts Road but you were not really sure if they were working or just well dresses women out on the town which they cloud be so usually they would not get approached for this reason and the girl would never approach your and offer services for a price.
As far back as April 2009 it was noticed that the number of working girls along Orchard Road had risen and you could find them all the way up to Centerpoint Shopping Centre sitting along the street in groups of 3 or more starting about 5pm. Late at night it is becoming more common to have girls approach you looking for dates but they were mostly approaching those that looked like tourist to be on the safe side.

In the Orchard Towers Area on both sides of the street lots of girls can be found from 8pm on. These are mostly Vietnamese girls who are very open and can be aggressive in their approach but the majority of the girls sitting along the street are not bothering anyone and look like any other tourist sitting around but it is more than clear as to what they are really doing by their heels, dress and make up.
On my last 3 trips to Orchard Towers I have also found more Local girls there offering services openly. None were in the clubs but outside looking for business, which seems to be the normal way for local girls to operate there. Now there could be some in the clubs I don’t know but I have meet 3 there in the past 7 weeks. Also I notice that there are more PRC girls in the clubs now also which before you didn’t see much of so things are changing to some degree.
While the increase of working girls on Orchard has gone up for the most part many will not even notice them since they blend in so will with the locals and other tourist. So unless you are looking one I think you would not even see them right now so the question is, “Do we now how have a change in the areas the girls are spreading out to?” In many area of Singapore Hookers can be found but mostly in small number and very low key so they go unnoticed by many. The Geylang area most knew about and when there looking for cheap dates. So if the girls from that area move over to the Orchard area before what you paid 50 to 100 buck for could double in price due to location if you are taking her out of a club.
The other night (9 July 09) while I was taking pictures on Orchard and Scott I was approached by a girl (Vietnamese) and offered service for S$50 for 1 hour I declined the offer but it took me by surprised that at 9:30pm in that location I was approached so quickly but again I looking like a tourist taking pictures and also being alone.
Around the 1st of June 2009 the police started doing more raids in the Geylang area which is the business on all the Red light districts and where 100’s of girls could be found working on the street during the day or night even thou these acts are illegal it was still carried on openly by the girls and the pimps. With the police raiding hotel rooms and makes sweeps in the entire area all the girls are now gone leaving only the legal houses in operation but due to the amount of men looking for sex for money in the area the houses can not keep up with the demand. So where did the girls disappear to off the streets? Orchard Road is one location.

New Malls & Clubs:
With the new Shopping Malls being built along the road there are new clubs are starting to appear that still need to be visited by many one problem I find with a few that have opened is there is little advertisement telling you of the clubs. So unless you stumble across it you may never find that great new location until it closes due to lack of customers. Places like “Heaven’s Loft” which is in the newly completed Orchard Central Mall is not even on their flyer showing the businesses in the mall so how are people suppose to find these places? The New Ion will be open soon so what new clubs, if any will be located in there. Guess we will have to wait and see or you can do internet search for the malls since most have or will have web sites and find the information you are you seeking about what shops that have in side their walls.

I live nearby and often walk down to the Seven Eleven across the street from Orchard Towers, buy a beer for $4, and sit down on a bench nearby and sip it. Yes, I’m a Cheap Charlie. Some of the regular streetwalkers on the corner have come to recognize me and chat with me in a friendly way if the night slow; they know I never pick up a girl off the street.
One of my regular chat ladies (Singaporean-Chinese) told me that she and her friends are suffering from the opening of Ion and the subsequent closing of the surface crossing at Scotts/Paterson. She said that foot traffic along Orchard Road is way down. Perhaps that is why the working girls have to work harder and range farther from OT, to be first to get those who do bother to do the underground crossing at Liat Towers.
I have also noticed that I get approached more,just sitting on a bench, not only given the eye but now given words as well.
Well Joe that could be true about the Ion having a affect on the foot traffic in that part but I think it is really very little really. Tourist don’t venture up that end of Orchard unless they are looking for the towers or staying in the hotels around there. I have been approched while taking picutres of the ION when standing at Shaw house by 2 Thai Girls and I am still seeing a lot of girls all over the street now too.

Had a lovely foray into Ot last night and wanted to share with my fellow mongers. Hit Eureka early doors and had the usual experience of 6 hotties mewing for drinks and pawing my bod. Great fun and ultimately VERY alluring. A couple of “snipers” in there, but they were up front and honest about drink prices [and how the back room karaoke worked ;o} ]. To be honest, 50 bucks on a beer for these girls is ridiculous. I’d rather give them the money directly.
Anyway, onto Moonshine. Not been in b4. Wot a find !! some really hot pinays, who were ok for me to sit and chat. Two in particular were some of the best-looking pinays I’ve seen in Sing. Had to leave early [pre-midnt] but it was still pretty quiet in there.
would defo recommend you check this place out, if you’re into flippers.
Thanks Goose - first off your not paying S$50 for the drink and second I have been in all the the bars in OT but don’t always do a write up because I may have been to Pissed to really recall the next day, ha ha.
